Turning Impossibilities Into Realities.

The University of the Philippines Public Relations + Advertising Society (UP PRAdS) is an organization geared towards the promotion of the responsible practice of PR and Advertising as contributory to the shaping of a progressive and proactive society.

Officially formed in October 2007, UP PRAdS is the brainchild of a third year Communication Research major as a response to the pressing need for an organization based on the College of Mass Communication to unite all students with the genuine passion and zeal for PR and Advertising.

The organization is currently composed of 23 pioneer members coming from various colleges in the university enrolled under different degree programs including Architecture, Broadcast Communication, Business Administration, Clothing Technology, Communication Research, Film and Audio-Visual Communication, Journalism, Landscape Architecture, Public Administration  and Speech Communication. As a university-wide organization, the diversity of each of the member backgrounds ensure the rich flow of ideas within the organization.

In line with the organization’s aspiration to promote responsibility in the practice of PR and Advertising, the organization aims to serve as a means for the discussion and evaluation of issues concerning PR and Advertising while developing cohesiveness among individual members.

To help achieve this goal, the organization is divided into different departments namely the Academic Projects Department (APD), Finance and Marketing Department (FMD), Membership and Recruitment Department (MRD), Design and Promotions Department (DPD) and the Publicity Event Department (PED). The organization is in turn governed by a constitution formulated by the members and implemented by the Board of Directors composed of the President, Vice President, the Secretary to the Organization and the Department Directors.

The organization also boasts of its advisers Professor Ma. Theresa Jazmines and Professor Maria Rosel San Pascual. Professor Jazmines is the former Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs of the Diliman Campus and currently teaches as a Journalism professor. Professor San Pascual is equally exemplary graduating Magna Cum Laude in Communication Research and holding a Master’s Degree in Development Economics. Professor San Pascual is also currently the head of the College of Mass Communication’s Office of Research and Extension and Publications and teaches under the Department of Communication Research.

Adhering closely to its credo of “Turning impossibilities into Realities”, the PRAdSters, as the members fondly call themselves, aims for the organization to be one of the prime movers in the academe when it comes to PR and Advertising by participating in various activities of the college and of the university.
